Jackie Chan climbs to second place in Forbes' Highest Paid Actors list .

Jackie Chan has climbed to the second spot in Forbes' Highest Paid Actors List after the magazine’s annual who’s who of wealthy thespians expanded to include those working outside the US movie industry.

With earnings of $50 million (£32,000,000) last year alone, Chan is second only to Robert Downey Jr, who tops the list for a third year running with an annual income of $80 million (£51,000,000).

This is the first year Forbes has expanded its list to include actors working outside of the US film industry.

Senate confirms appointments of services chiefs.

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of new military chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The president, on July 13, appointed new service chiefs for Nigeria’s armed forces.

They are Maj-Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj-Gen. Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff.

Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar was appointed the new Chief of Air Staff, while Air Vice-Marchal Monday Morgan was named Chief of Defence Intelligence.

Boko Haram members want to dialogue with FG, says CCC

The Centre for Crisis Communication a non-governmental organisation on Tuesday said that some persons claiming to be Boko Haram members had approached it for dialogue to end insurgency in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the centre, retired Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, disclosed this when he briefed newsmen on sundry national issues, including cattle rustling and National Assembly crisis in Abuja.Anas, who did not reveal the identities of the persons, said the centre strongly believed in their renewed request for dialogue because of several telephone conversions with them.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Prof. Umaru Danbatta as new Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

According to the Special Adviser on media and publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adesina, who confirmed the appointment in a statement, Danbatta holds a Doctorate Degree in Electronic Engineering and takes over from Dr Eugene Juwah, whose tenure expired on July 29, 2015.

President Buhari Appoints ExxonMobil Vice-chair as new NNPC GMD

According to a statement released by presidential spokesperson, president Buhari has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Dr. Kachikwu, who was the Executive Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Exxon-Mobil (Africa), is to take over from Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha.

Buhari calls for inclusion of Islamic books in federal schools’ Curriculum

President Buhari has called on the Federal Ministry of Education to include two Islamic Studies books written by the late Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo in the secondary school curriculum for all Federal Government Colleges.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria, President Buhari gave the directive at the weekend in Kaduna while launching the reviewed editions of the books which were first published in 1974.

Represented by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, the president, according to NAN noted that such books had become essential in the face of declining moral and religious values in the country.
