Brazil President Dilma Rousseff impeached by Senate

Brazil's Senate has voted to remove President Dilma Rousseff from office for manipulating the budget.
It puts an end to 13 years in power of her left-wing Workers' Party. Ms Rousseff denies the charges.
Sixty-one senators voted in favour of her impeachment and 20 against, meeting the two-thirds majority needed to remove her from the presidency.
Acting President Michel Temer will serve out Ms Rousseff's term, which ends on 1 January 2019.
Mr Temer, from the centre-right PMDB party, is expected to be officially sworn in later on Wednesday.

Dover Mayor Neil Rix caught on camera snorting white powder refuses to resign

A shocking footage has emerged of Cllr Neil Rix – the Mayor of the Kent coastal town of Dover, England, snorting a white substance that looked like cocaine with a pal encouraging him from behind.
Despite the concrete evidence visible to everyone who watches the video, the Mayor claims he is the victim of a blackmail plot and that he won't resign as the incident is not 'recent' and what he was snorting could be 'vim or icing sugar'.
Speaking after the footage was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday night, he said:
“The video forms part of a police investigation into the fact I am being blackmailed. It did not happen recently. I was set up, pushed into it and coerced. Someone had put drugs into my beer and I did not know I was being filmed.”

CBN lifts FX operations restrictions all commercial banks sanctioned last week for non-remittance of NNPC funds.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has lifted the restriction on Foreign Exchange transactions it placed on 9 commercial banks last week for failing to remit $2.12 billion belonging to the nation’s oil corporation, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), into the Treasury Single Account TSA. The nine banks comprised of three tier-one lenders and six tier-two deposit money banks.

Teenager kills sugar mummy over infidelity, hangs self

A 17-year-old Zimbabwean boy, Chinhengo Timothy has reportedly killed himself after he found out that his 37-year-old sugar mummy was cheating on him.
Chinhengo committed suicide in police cell after he was arrested for stabbing his older lover, Patricia Chiweshe, to death, H-metro reports.
According to the report, Timothy, from Landa’s business centre in Chihota trailed his lover and saw her coming from a toilet in the company of a man, at the weekend, when he approached them and stabbed his lover several times.

Edo guber: Monarch places curse on subjects who vote against Obaseki

Ahead of the September 10 governorship election in Edo state, the Iyase of Udo Kingdom in the state, Patrick Igbinidu, has placed what seems like a curse on his subjects who votes against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Godwin Obaseki, in the election billed to hold next week.
The monarch placed this curse yesterday when he received Obaseki and members of his campaign team at the palace, in Udo, near Benin, in Ovia South West local government area of Benin.

Security Guard arrested for fingering, sucking employer’s daughter’s breasts in Lagos

A 24-year-old security guard who sexually molested his employer’s daughter has been arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command.
The guard, Ossai Sylvester, assaulted the 10-year-old unnamed girl in the Victoria Island area of the state on Saturday.
Sylvester had also inserted his finger into the private parts of the victim and was sucking her breast before his employer caught him and reported to the police.
He was, however, arrested on Monday by the Victoria Island Police Division.

Car bomb kills 22 near presidential palace.

A truck bomb has exploded outside a hotel in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, killing 22 people in a heavily secured area close to the presidential palace.
The al-Shabab group, which is affiliated to al-Qaeda, says it is behind the attack.

The Somali Youth League (SYL) Hotel is a popular meeting place for government officials and has been targeted by militants before.
A security conference was under way at the hotel on Tuesday morning at the time of the blast.

School ordered to end ‘racist’ hair rules.

A South African school has been ordered to suspend allegedly racist hairstyle regulations after black pupils said they had been called monkeys by teachers for wearing banned “afros”, and were forced to chemically straighten their hair. 
Pretoria High School for Girls was given 21 days on Tuesday to re-assess its rules pertaining to black pupils’ hair after protests by students triggered a public dispute over racism.
